Ahead of this Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has sent 2,500 personnel and 50 vehicles into the field. According to Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, these officers will enforce movement restrictions and maintain orderly traffic throughout the exercise.
The force consists of 2,300 local officers supplemented by 50 staff members each from the neighboring states of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti. To handle emergency situations and traffic management, the agency has positioned 50 operational vehicles, which include six ambulances and seven heavy-duty tow trucks, at key points across the three senatorial districts.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that this strategy aims to support a secure and transparent electoral process. Personnel have been instructed to operate with strict impartiality, professionalism, and respect for human rights while collaborating with other security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security. Furthermore, the FRSC will inspect all vehicles utilized to transport election materials to verify they meet safety standards.
Strict movement restrictions will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. The agency has urged all motorists and transport providers to prepare their travel plans accordingly and observe all designated road closures.
