Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, stated he remains confident in his decision to support Biodun Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate, for the upcoming gubernatorial election. Oyinlola cited two primary reasons for shifting his support away from incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
First, Oyinlola criticized Adeleke for defecting to the Accord Party without prior consultation with stakeholders. He also raised concerns regarding the unequal distribution of state development projects, noting that a vast majority of the N362 billion spent on government initiatives was concentrated within the Ede senatorial district.
Addressing claims by Governor Adeleke that he personally purchased a vehicle for the former governor, Oyinlola clarified that the car was a legal entitlement provided by the Osun State government. He expressed disappointment in what he termed the governor’s misleading statements regarding these state-mandated benefits. Oyinlola further highlighted the lack of regular party meetings at the state headquarters in Osogbo, characterizing the administration’s approach as dismissive of necessary political engagement.
Reflecting on his political history, Oyinlola maintained that his choices were calculated decisions based on previous experiences with party agreements. He concluded by asserting that he has no reservations about his current political alignment.
