Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Azare, has issued a firm warning to officers assigned to election duty in Osun State. He prohibited any involvement in misconduct, including voter intimidation, extortion, or the consumption of alcohol while on shift.
Addressing the troops before deployment, the Commissioner emphasized strict adherence to the social media guidelines set by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. Officers are strictly forbidden from livestreaming, sharing, or posting any content related to sensitive election operations that could threaten security or tarnish the reputation of the police force.
Commissioner Azare confirmed that the Inspector-General has fully funded transportation for the officers to and from Osun State. He cautioned commanders against soliciting funds from subordinates for travel costs, labeling such actions as prohibited. He instructed any personnel facing such demands to report the matter immediately.
Concluding his address, the Commissioner reminded the officers that they serve as representatives of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Akwa Ibom Command. He urged them to maintain neutrality and professionalism, warning that any breach of conduct or unauthorized collection of money will result in direct disciplinary measures.
