Leicester City Available for Acquisition, Reports Suggest

Leicester City’s Thai ownership group has reportedly engaged a US investment firm to facilitate a sale of the club, which is valued at over £200 million.

Thai owners of Leicester City are reportedly seeking a buyer for the football club. A decade removed from their unexpected Premier League championship victory, the Foxes face a challenging season in the third tier of English football. This marks only the second instance in the club’s history that they have competed at this level.

The team’s recent decline includes consecutive relegations from the Premier League in 2025 and the Championship in 2026. A significant factor in their recent struggles was a six-point penalty incurred last season for violating financial sustainability regulations. According to a BBC report, the Srivaddhanaprabha family’s investment firm, King Power, has hired a major American investment bank to facilitate a sale, with the club valued at over 200 million pounds.

King Power originally acquired the team for 35 million pounds in 2010. Leadership passed to Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha after his father, Vichai, died in a 2019 helicopter accident at the stadium. Following the most recent relegation, Aiyawatt accepted responsibility for the club’s situation and promised structural reorganization. The team begins its campaign to climb back up the league ranks this Saturday against Notts County.
