Dr. Wole Oluyede, the 2026 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Ekiti State, has announced a major political coalition aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. This movement, known as the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA), includes members from the PDP, Accord, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Action Alliance (AA).
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Oluyede explained that the initiative stems from a personal reconciliation with the President. Following the contentious 2026 Ekiti governorship election, President Tinubu reached out to Oluyede, encouraging him to move past previous political grievances to serve the national interest. According to Oluyede, the President requested his support for the upcoming presidential race and assured him that they could overcome their past disagreements.
Oluyede emphasized that this alignment is focused on Nigeria’s national development rather than financial gain. He clarified that he remains a member of the PDP and has also resolved his personal conflict with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to facilitate a unified front for Tinubu’s campaign. While he is committed to this alliance for the sake of the presidency, he maintains that the PDP intends to compete for the governorship in Ekiti again in 2030.
The former candidate noted that his involvement in this coalition is intended to leverage his political network for the benefit of the country. He encouraged his supporters to look past the difficulties of the previous state election and concentrate on the broader goal of re-electing President Tinubu.
