Georgia Wareham produced her first half-century of this year’s Hundred tournament to help Welsh Fire finish their season on a high note with a 15-run victory against London Spirit at Sophia Gardens. While both teams had already been eliminated from the competition, the match served as a final opportunity to secure pride.
Wareham, the Australian all-rounder, anchored the Welsh Fire innings with a decisive 50 runs off 34 deliveries, pushing her side to a competitive total of 138-7. London Spirit struggled early in their chase, largely due to Grace Potts, who took 3-23 and dismissed three top-order batters during the powerplay.
Captain Charlie Dean attempted to steer London Spirit back into contention with 27 runs, but her departure left the team in a precarious position at 75-6. Despite the presence of Deandra Dottin, the required run rate proved too steep. Dottin was dismissed in the final over, confirming the win for Welsh Fire. The result places Welsh Fire fifth in the final standings, followed by London Spirit in sixth place.
