This verification must happen prior to setting up a profile for registration.
As explained in the board’s educational series, JAMB pulls all applicant information directly from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) database. Consequently, the board cannot manually adjust these records. Applicants are strongly cautioned against relying on affidavits to fix mistakes in their names or birth dates, as these legal documents do not trigger automatic updates in the JAMB system.
Candidates are specifically required to confirm the correct spelling and order of their full names and ensure their date of birth is accurate. Furthermore, they must review all other personal identifiers to guarantee consistency between their JAMB registration and NIMC files. If errors appear, they must follow official NIMC procedures to rectify them. The board emphasizes that this verification should be finalized before generating a profile code. While JAMB does offer a data correction service for specific fields, resolving issues at the source with the NIMC remains the primary and most effective approach for applicants.
