The Nigerian Law School has officially acknowledged the death of 23-year-old student Faith Alayande. She died after falling from a hostel roof at the school’s Lagos location. Alayande, who was typically enrolled at the Enugu campus, was staying in Lagos for her externship program when the event took place.
A statement released Monday by Aderonke O. Osho, the Director of Administration, confirmed the tragedy occurred at roughly 4:00 am on Friday, August 7, 2026. The institution is currently cooperating with law enforcement and the victim’s family to investigate the details of the event.
Local police initiated an inquiry after the hostel matron reported the discovery of Alayande’s unresponsive body. Officers moved her remains to a morgue as part of their standard procedure. While reports surfaced mentioning a note found by a housemate, the Law School has not released specific details about what occurred immediately before the fall.
The school expressed its condolences to those grieving the loss, requesting that the public and media respect the family’s privacy during this period. Leadership at the institution reiterated their dedication to the safety and welfare of all students and staff.
