18-Year-Old Girl Arraigned for Allegedly Drugging Boyfriend and Stealing N4m in Oyo
An 18-year-old girl, Rukayat Ashiru, appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 28, for allegedly stealing N4 million in cash from her boyfriend, Waris Olamilekan, after adding a substance to his drink to make him lose consciousness.
The defendant is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The prosecutor, PC Olapeju Durodola, informed the court that the defendant and others still at large committed the offenses on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu in Ibadan.
She stated that the defendant allegedly added a substance to her boyfriend’s drink, causing him to lose consciousness.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant stole the money after drugging the complainant.
Durodola noted that the offenses contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi stipulated that one of the sureties must be a property owner within the court’s jurisdiction, while the second surety must be a blood relation of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until May 26 for hearing.
