The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is preparing to mark the 2026 International Youth Day by activating its youth wings across Nigeria. The initiative aims to encourage younger citizens to participate more actively in the political system, ultimately helping to reverse the trend of voter apathy and bolster the nation’s democratic foundations.
Scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, the event will feature various state-level activities centered on the theme: ‘How Youth Political Participation Will Curb Voter Apathy in Nigeria.’ According to the PDP National Youth Leader, Amb. Ibrahim Bala-Aboki, the party intends to address the persistent lack of enthusiasm among voters by fostering deeper political involvement.
Bala-Aboki highlighted that the program aligns with the vision of PDP National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, to grant young people a larger stake within the party. He noted that the national celebration will take place in Abuja, involving key political figures and stakeholders to discuss the future of youth in governance.
The leadership has encouraged all citizens to join these local and national conversations. By highlighting the potential and energy of the younger generation, the party hopes to integrate their contributions into national development and improve the overall health of Nigeria’s democratic process.
