Soldiers under the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, successfully defended a military installation in Gajiram, located in the Nganzai region of Borno State, against ISWAP militants.
Captain Mohammed Goni, acting military information officer, stated that the conflict began at roughly 12:20 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026. A significant force of insurgents sought to seize the outpost, but the soldiers retaliated with intense gunfire, causing the attackers to flee after sustaining significant losses. Recovered items from the site included weapons, ammunition, and various communication devices.
Surveillance evidence indicated that the retreating militants carried away several of their fallen comrades. While the military successfully defended the site, some defensive structures were compromised, resulting in injuries to a number of soldiers. Furthermore, Rocket Propelled Grenades launched by the insurgents caused damage to military transport and equipment. The injured service members were quickly airlifted and remain in stable condition under medical supervision.
Currently, the military maintains a heightened patrol and surveillance posture in Gajiram to intercept potential threats.
