Super Falcons manager Justine Madugu attributed his team’s elimination from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to a lack of precision in front of the goal. The Nigerian side suffered a 1-0 loss to Cameroon at Larbi Zaouli Stadium this past Sunday.
The match was decided by Myriam Nyadjou, who scored from a free-kick in the 19th minute. Cameroon’s goalkeeper, Michaely Bihina, played a crucial role in maintaining the lead by making several key saves against the Nigerian attack. Following this victory, Cameroon will advance to the semi-finals to play Morocco in Rabat, while also securing their spot in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Despite the loss, Nigeria still has a path to the World Cup via a play-in game against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana. Reflecting on the result, Madugu noted that the outcome might have shifted in their favor had the squad been more efficient with their scoring opportunities.
