Authorities at the Obantoko Division of the Ogun State Police Command have taken Kehinde Makinde, known as Pastor Kenny, into custody. He faces accusations of swindling 2.5 million naira from 18 church members by promising them a government-backed trip to Jerusalem. Furthermore, he reportedly enticed victims with the prospect of receiving 2 million naira each.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that the arrest in Ibadan followed a four-month investigation. Beyond the pilgrimage scam, Makinde is suspected of using fraudulent spiritual deliverance services to target individuals across Ogun, Oyo, and Osun states. Police are currently working to locate additional victims and potential partners in the scheme.
In unrelated law enforcement actions, police in the Owode-Egba area discovered a stolen Toyota Hilux abandoned on the Alapako–Ogunmakin Road. Additionally, officers apprehended 31-year-old Samuel Adetunji for allegedly stealing a commercial tricycle that had been placed in his care. That vehicle was recovered in the Rounder area of Abeokuta. All suspects remain in custody pending formal charges.
