On June 26, 2026, the Edo State Police Command detained Taiye Enahoro and Lucky Alabi for their reported participation in a self-kidnapping scheme. Eno Ikoedem, the command’s spokesperson, stated that officers from the Igarra Division apprehended the pair after receiving reliable information.
Initial inquiries suggest that on June 23, 2026, Enahoro contacted Alabi’s family members, claiming that Alabi had been abducted. He demanded a ransom payment of N4,000,000. Both individuals have admitted to their parts in the deception and will face prosecution once the police finalize their investigation.
CP Monday Agbonika, the Commissioner of Police for Edo State, issued a stern warning against such fraudulent activities. He emphasized that the police force remains dedicated to prosecuting those who commit crimes and encouraged the public to report any suspicious behavior immediately.
