The 28-year-old Brazilian was officially presented to supporters at Emirates Stadium before the fixture against Borussia Dortmund. Although he did not participate in the 3-2 defeat, he is expected to feature in the upcoming match against Como. Arteta highlighted the immediate impact of Guimaraes’s energy and character, noting his determination to contribute to the club’s history.
Arteta emphasized that Guimaraes offers tactical versatility, the ability to win possession, and a goal-scoring threat. The midfielder joins a competitive Arsenal roster that already includes Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Eberechi Eze, and Mikel Merino. This summer, Arsenal has also added Christos Tzolis and goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Regarding further recruitment, Arteta stated that the club continues to pursue ambitious targets if they can effectively improve the squad. Meanwhile, the manager provided injury updates, noting that Jurrien Timber and William Saliba remain sidelined as they continue their respective recoveries.
