Since taking office, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has actively implemented his campaign platform, the SUSTAIN Agenda. This framework focuses on seven key areas: safety, infrastructure upgrades, institutional strengthening, trade and investment, human capital development, and citizen engagement.
Agricultural transformation has become a hallmark of Sani’s administration. By increasing the agriculture budget to over N100 billion and regularly distributing free fertilizer and farming equipment to thousands of smallholder farmers, the state is actively working to modernize the sector and improve rural livelihoods. This proactive approach has made the government a clear ally to the state’s agricultural community.
Security remains a cornerstone of the administration’s achievements. Through the Kaduna Peace Model, which emphasizes non-kinetic solutions and community collaboration, the Governor has successfully improved safety in once-volatile regions like Birnin-Gwari and Giwa. By professionalizing the State Vigilante Service and equipping security agencies with new vehicles, the state has reclaimed hundreds of thousands of hectares of farmland and revitalized local markets.
Economically, the administration has attracted over $2 billion in investment without accumulating new debt. In fact, Governor Sani reports having paid off over N90 billion in inherited liabilities. Major projects, including a bus rapid transit system, refinery plants, and extensive road construction covering over 1,355 kilometers, are driving this growth and facilitating easier commerce across the state.
The administration has also prioritized human development. Education reforms include reduced tuition fees, improved school infrastructure, and the construction of new skills acquisition centers. These initiatives have already yielded tangible results, with significant improvements in national examination pass rates. Simultaneously, the healthcare sector has been bolstered by the recruitment of hundreds of medical staff, the renovation of primary health centers, and the activation of a long-abandoned 300-bed specialist hospital.
By maintaining a focus on civil servant welfare, pension payments, and sustainable transportation solutions like CNG-powered buses, Governor Sani has established a reputation for stability and progress. Through the steady application of the SUSTAIN agenda, Kaduna State is positioning itself as a model of governance and regional development.
