The Osun State Police Command has granted bail to Mayowa Anjorin, the Commissioner for Environment, who was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident during a political gathering in Ilesa. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the spokesperson for the command, verified that Anjorin was released on Sunday at approximately 1:00 p.m.
While the commissioner is no longer in detention, authorities are continuing to hold the Amotekun operative apprehended with him, along with the firearm discovered in that individual’s possession. Ojelabi noted that the official investigation remains active.
The incident occurred on Saturday when unidentified gunmen, arriving in a government-owned vehicle, reportedly stepped out and opened fire near a political event in Ilesa. Witnesses identified the shooters as wearing the uniforms of the Amotekun Corps, the Osun State Security Network Agency. Three individuals suffered gunshot wounds during the attack and were subsequently transported to a medical facility for urgent care.
