Kiddwaya Asserts Nigeria Needed Longer Period of British Colonialism for Development

Reality TV star Kiddwaya suggests that Nigeria would have reached a higher level of development if the British had maintained colonial rule for an additional decade or more.

Tersee Waya, the reality television personality widely recognized as Kiddwaya, recently suggested that Nigeria would have achieved greater progress had the British occupation lasted longer. Following intense advocacy from nationalists, Nigeria gained independence from Britain in 1960 and transitioned into a republic three years later.

Sharing his perspective on social media, Kiddwaya contended that the nation was granted autonomy too soon. He stated that an additional 10 to 15 years of colonial rule would have facilitated more effective development for the country.

His statement posted on X drew diverse responses from the public. Some followers noted that his argument carries weight given the performance of the nation’s leadership since the colonial exit. Conversely, critics maintained that a prolonged presence by the British would have only served to further extract resources rather than foster true national growth.
