Emergency responders in Kano State successfully saved 16 individuals following the collapse of a home in the Dan Dishe neighborhood of Fagge. The structure, measuring approximately 20 by 30 feet, crumbled early Saturday morning.
Saminu Abdullahi, a spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed that the emergency alert arrived at 4:32 a.m. The report was initiated by Aminu Sani Warure, a staff member who notified the response team. Firefighters departed from the central headquarters to reach the site swiftly.
The recovery team navigated the wreckage to locate 16 trapped occupants. Three young children—five-year-old Affan Yusuf, seven-year-old Hassana Yusuf, and nine-month-old Ummulkursum Yusuf—were discovered in an unconscious state during the operation.
Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the collapse, though an investigation is currently active. The fire service has issued a public appeal for citizens to prioritize building safety, particularly during the rainy season when structural integrity may be compromised.
