Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has extended his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for dispatching reinforcements to the state to bolster ongoing anti-banditry efforts. During a surprise visit to soldiers stationed in Yauri on Friday, the governor praised the troops for their bravery and professional dedication.
Governor Idris noted that the increased troop levels directly address the administration’s request for a stronger military footprint in vulnerable regions. He highlighted that the Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski areas frequently face incursions from criminals arriving from neighboring states like Niger, Zamfara, and Kwara. He expects the new units to improve the effectiveness of local security operations and boost the morale of existing personnel.
Reaffirming his administration’s support for law enforcement, the governor stressed that security is a shared duty. He encouraged other state leaders to assist the Federal Government in protecting citizens, specifically noting that safer conditions are essential for farmers to resume agricultural work. He challenged the military to utilize their global peacekeeping experience to eliminate the threat posed by bandits. Before addressing the troops, Governor Idris visited the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, and officially opened a new Jumu’a Mosque in the Tudun-Gwamna district.
