Frank LeBoeuf, a former Chelsea defender, believes the club must find a new goalkeeper to replace Robert Sanchez if they hope to succeed in the Premier League. LeBoeuf expressed significant concerns regarding the Spaniard’s ability to handle the ball effectively.
Since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, Sanchez has established himself as the primary goalkeeper. While he managed nine clean sheets across 35 appearances last season, he has also been responsible for costly mistakes throughout his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on ESPN FC, LeBoeuf noted that while Sanchez performs well on his goal line, his distribution frequently causes trouble and anxiety among the supporters. Regarding the broader team structure, LeBoeuf criticized the current squad depth, noting that Chelsea carries nearly 45 players. He suggested that incoming management must offload at least 15 individuals to establish a functional training environment and a cohesive dressing room.
