Music artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has called on participants in the upcoming August 15 Osun State governorship election to prioritize public safety and honor the decision of the voters. During a press briefing in Osogbo, the singer, who is related to Governor Ademola Adeleke, emphasized that political goals must never supersede the safety or stability of the region.
Davido urged candidates and their followers to prevent any escalation of hostilities throughout the electoral process. He encouraged citizens to cast their ballots without fear, noting that the electorate’s choice is paramount. He stressed that victory should be earned through the ballot box rather than through manipulation or intimidation. Additionally, he requested that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma use his influence as the APC National Campaign Council Chairman to ensure the integrity of the poll and prevent outside interference. Davido concluded by reminding the public that political cycles are fleeting and that preserving lives is more important than electoral outcomes.
