A Senior Magistrate Court in Bosso, Niger State, has sentenced a 44-year-old ex-convict, Abdulmutalib Abdullahi, to two years in a correctional facility without the option of a fine for criminal trespass, intimidation, and theft.

Abdullahi had previously served a jail term for a similar offense following a conviction by a Senior Magistrate Court in Minna.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by police officers from the Bosso Divisional Police Command, he had only just completed his sentence in January 2025 before committing another crime.

The court found Abdullahi guilty of three charges: criminal trespass, criminal intimidation, and theft.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Angela Jah stated that the offenses violated sections 288, 349, and 397 of the Penal Code.

Abdullahi was accused of breaking into the residence of Mohammed Mohammed Shaba, where he stole an HP laptop valued at N500,000, a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone, an Infinix Hot 7, and a Nokia 105, among other items.

He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Following his plea, Sgt. Jah urged the court to convict him in line with Section 190 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) of Niger State.

In her ruling, Presiding Senior Magistrate Evelyn Auta described Abdullahi as a habitual and unrepentant offender who posed a threat to society. She ruled that he be removed from the community and placed in a correctional facility.

“Having perused the First Information Report (FIR) and it was stated that the convict just completed a jail term on similar offence, is hereby sentenced to two years in Correctional Custody without an option of fine.”
