Law enforcement in Kebbi State has apprehended two men suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of three soldiers who had recently completed their training. The incident occurred on the Anka/Bukuyum Road within Zamfara State.
The details were shared on Tuesday by the command spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman. Authorities identified the detainees as Abubakar Mallan Abubakar from Zamfara State and Usman Muhammadu from Kwara State. They were captured on August 1 following a tactical operation driven by intelligence reports.
Initial inquiries suggest that the suspects provided information regarding the July 2026 abduction of the recruits near the Kwanan Mayanchi–Gurusu axis. The kidnapped soldiers, identified as Kabiru Hassan and two others from the Zuru area, have since been released safely.
The investigation has been turned over to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Police Commissioner Umar M. Hadejia praised the team for their efforts and pledged to hold all involved parties accountable.
