The relatives of a 42-year-old Islamic instructor killed by alleged members of the Sara-Suka gang in Bauchi State are calling for urgent legal action. One week after the attack, the family expressed frustration that the individuals identified as the assailants have yet to be taken into custody. The victim’s sister, Jamila Dauda, stated that the suspects are known residents of the Karofi Madaki neighborhood, yet they remain free.
Dauda explained that the tragedy began when her brother challenged youths who had attached political posters to their family home without permission. She noted that her brother had received death threats following this confrontation. Ultimately, he was ambushed and stabbed three times on his way home, passing away while being transported for medical help. As the family’s primary provider, his death leaves behind his wife and five children.
The family has petitioned Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and the state police command to bring the perpetrators to justice, warning that inaction could embolden further violence. In response, police spokesperson SP Nafiu Abubakar stated that authorities are actively pursuing the two main suspects. He assured the public that the command is tracking leads and remains committed to making arrests.
