Suspected Fulani bandits launched an assault on the Dyan community within the Rim area of Riyom Local Government, Plateau State, late Friday night. The raid resulted in the deaths of 32-year-old Happiness Pam, who was pregnant, and 24-year-old Daniel Luka. Rwang Tengwong, representing the Berom Youth Moulders Association, stated that the attackers arrived around 10 p.m. and began firing their weapons at random.
The association expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, labeling the violence as horrific and intolerable. Tengwong noted that such incidents remain a recurring issue in the region, destabilizing the safety and well-being of the local population. The group has reached out to the families of the victims to offer their sympathies.
Furthermore, the BYM is calling for immediate action from both federal and state authorities to improve protection for rural residents. They have urged security personnel to locate and prosecute the perpetrators while advising citizens to exercise extreme caution during travel. As of now, the Plateau State Police Command has not provided an official update on the situation.
