The Accord Party has called upon the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various security forces to maintain strict neutrality during the upcoming Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The party emphasized that these organizations must ensure a fair environment for every political group involved.
National Chairman Barr. Maxwell Mgbudem stated that this election serves as a critical evaluation of INEC’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections. He urged the commission to avoid excuses regarding performance, noting that they have had sufficient time to prepare. Mgbudem stressed that the integrity of the electoral process relies on the sanctity of the ballot and urged stakeholders to ensure every vote is honored.
Addressing the public, the party warned voters against accepting financial inducements or engaging in vote selling, describing such actions as harmful to their own future. The Accord Party also expressed confidence in securing a decisive victory, citing strong support for the current leadership of Governor Adeleke. Finally, the party insisted that INEC must thoroughly inspect all materials to avoid technical failures, as the commission’s reputation and public trust are heavily dependent on conducting a transparent and credible exercise.
