Orji Uzor Kalu Claims Politicians Mislead Tinubu, Defends President Amid Hardship

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu asserts that Nigerian politicians are misleading President Tinubu about the true state of the country, while defending the President against blame for current national hardships.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the ongoing economic challenges facing Nigeria. During a recent video address, Kalu suggested that political figures are providing false information to the President regarding the state of the nation.

This assertion follows a meeting between the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria and President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The bishops had voiced significant concerns regarding the nation’s economic instability, security issues, and general political climate. Following the meeting, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Abuja, noted that the President disputed the bishops’ negative assessment, maintaining that his administration is performing well.

Kalu, however, praised the bishops for acting as the nation’s conscience. He argued that the clergy provides objective feedback that politicians may withhold. While acknowledging that Nigerians are suffering, the senator emphasized that these conditions are not the result of Tinubu’s policies. He concluded that the bishops serve as a necessary voice of truth, ensuring the President hears the reality of the country’s situation despite potential misinformation from others.
