Yobe Police Apprehend Four Individuals Over Theft and Assault

Yobe State Police have arrested four individuals in separate incidents involving goat theft, assault, and the recovery of stolen building supplies.

The Yobe State Police Command has taken four individuals into custody following incidents involving theft, physical assault, and criminal conspiracy. Details regarding these actions were released Sunday by police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim.

In the first case, officers at the Damaturu ‘A’ Division intervened after a 35-year-old was accused of stealing a goat at the Sunday Market on August 2, 2026. An 80-year-old accomplice allegedly struck the victim with a stick during the struggle, leaving the complainant with a head injury. Authorities successfully detained both suspects and secured the animal and the weapon as evidence.

A second report involving the theft of construction supplies valued at ₦2.5 million was filed with the Violent Crime Response Unit on August 1, 2026. Through a focused investigation, officers tracked down three suspects and retrieved materials worth ₦1.5 million. Police are currently working to locate the remaining stolen items.

Yobe State Police Commissioner Usman Kanfani Jibrin has instructed that both investigations proceed thoroughly to ensure that those responsible face appropriate legal consequences.
