Seyi Makinde Consults With Obasanjo Regarding 2027 Election

Governor Seyi Makinde met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta to discuss national issues ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde held a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, this Sunday. The visit took place as political maneuvering intensifies ahead of the 2027 national polls.

Makinde was accompanied by former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. The governor, who is the presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement, stated that the dialogue covered various national concerns relevant to the upcoming election cycle.

In a statement shared on his social media, Makinde expressed gratitude for the former leader’s guidance during this significant period for the country. Makinde, currently serving his final term as governor of Oyo, announced his presidential bid in May.

Political affiliations remain diverse among the group, as Oyinlola is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, while Fayemi represents the All Progressives Congress. As of now, Obasanjo has not indicated which candidate he intends to endorse for the 2027 contest.
