An officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, sustained injuries during the arrest of two suspected drug dealers in Bebeji Local Government Area of the state.

The NDLEA spokesperson in Kano, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

The suspects, identified as Musa Usman (25) and Buhari Ya’u Bashir (24), were apprehended during a targeted operation at Rahama Roundabout on January 20, 2025.

The operation resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa, eight grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol.

During the arrest, Musa Usman resisted by attacking the officers with a dagger, causing one officer to sustain a stab injury.

Reacting to the incident, the State Commander, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to its mandate of combating drug-related crimes.

“Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from carrying out our mission to rid society of the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking,” Ahmad stated.

He further stated that both suspects are currently in NDLEA custody and will face charges for drug-related offences and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
