Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has criticized Catholic bishops for attempting to characterize the administration’s reform efforts as unsuccessful. Dare stated that dismissing the president’s agenda as a failure is an unfair attack on his leadership.
The statement was issued via social media following remarks from Archbishop Emeritus John Onaiyekan. During a recent visit by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria to the Presidential Villa, members shared concerns regarding national security, the economy, and the political environment. Onaiyekan later noted on Arise Television that President Tinubu disputed their evaluation, maintaining that his administration is progressing correctly.
In his response, Dare argued that the President took over a nation facing economic ruin and structural decay in May 2023. He described the president’s ongoing work as a courageous attempt to reconstruct the country from the ground up, rejecting any notion that the current agenda is failing.
