BEDC Employee Dies Following Electrocution Incident in Ado-Ekiti

A BEDC technician passed away following an electrocution accident while conducting repair work near the Federal Polytechnic Satellite Campus in Ado-Ekiti.

A Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) worker tragically lost his life after being electrocuted during a repair operation near the Federal Polytechnic Satellite Campus in Ado-Ekiti this past weekend. The technician was attempting to restore power to local residents when the accident occurred.

Witnesses observed the worker showing signs of distress and weakness while positioned atop the utility pole. Colleagues on the ground initially attempted to provide aid, followed by the arrival of the Ekiti State Fire and Emergency Service, who successfully lowered the victim from the pole. Despite being transported to a local medical facility for urgent care, hospital staff reported that he succumbed to his injuries.

This event marks a somber return of such accidents to the area. A similar fatality involving a Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) employee named Samuel Isaac was recorded at the same location in 2012.
