Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary for the African Democratic Congress, claims the ongoing scandal surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and its head, Adeniyi Adeyemi, highlights systemic corruption within President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking with Symfoni TV, Abdullahi expressed that the situation is a source of national shame, projecting an image of institutionalized racketeering to the global community.
Abdullahi stated that reports of individuals charging fees for contract awards, presidential meetings, and government appointments suggest that illicit activities have become common practice. While he previously doubted the severity of such claims, he now believes the PFIPC case is merely one instance of a long-standing pattern under the current leadership. He urged President Tinubu to conduct a thorough, transparent investigation to prove his government is not involved.
Regarding Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Abdullahi suggested that the president’s early endorsement of his aide appeared to be an attempt to shield him rather than seek the truth. He advised Gbajabiamila to step aside temporarily to facilitate an independent inquiry, arguing that an official in his position should prioritize clearing their name from such serious allegations rather than remaining in office during an investigation.
