The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has restarted standard operations at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The agency launched an inquiry after initial reports suggested a fire, though subsequent checks confirmed that no blaze took place.
Henry Agbebire, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN, clarified that the smoke spotted by witnesses was caused by the automatic release of the facility’s FM-200 fire suppression equipment. Authorities are currently looking into why this system triggered unexpectedly.
In an official update, FAAN assured the public that no injuries occurred. The airport authority expressed gratitude to travelers, airline staff, and other stakeholders for their patience during the disruption, emphasizing that ensuring airport safety remains their primary objective.
