Dr. Paul Enenche, the head of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, recently voiced strong disapproval regarding the current state of Afrobeats. Speaking at the church’s Mid-year Worship concert, he argued that the genre is devoid of meaningful lyrics.
The pastor claimed that many Afrobeats artists produce low-quality content that exerts a harmful influence on younger generations. He specifically highlighted behaviors like drug use among some performers, suggesting these actions negatively impact their listeners.
To combat this, Enenche encouraged Gospel artists to create more engaging and spiritually uplifting music for young people. He announced a youth event scheduled for September 25th, tasking young ministers like Prinx Emmanuel to provide an alternative. The goal is to offer music that guides youth toward positive life choices, effective decision-making, and healthy social circles, effectively replacing what he described as cultural garbage.
