Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another’ Sweeps the 98th Academy Awards

The 98th Annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Hosted by Conan O’Brien for the second consecutive year, the ceremony celebrated a year of diverse and visionary filmmaking.

The night’s biggest winner was Paul Thomas Anderson’s political epic, One Battle After Another.

The film secured six Oscars, including the prestigious Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay (based on Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland). This marked the first-ever Best Director win for Anderson, a long-awaited crowning moment for the legendary filmmaker.
