Jang Celebrates 80th Birthday with Book Launch in Jos

Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Goodluck Jonathan joined dignitaries in Jos to celebrate Jonah Jang’s 80th birthday and the release of his autobiography.

Prominent figures in Nigeria gathered in Jos on Saturday to honor the 80th birthday of former Plateau State Governor, Jonah David Jang. The event served as a dual celebration, marking both his milestone birthday and the release of his autobiography titled From Airman to Politics.

Vice President Kashim Shettima led the delegation of government officials, arriving at Yakubu Gowon Airport where he was greeted by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Also in attendance was former President Goodluck Jonathan alongside various traditional, religious, and political leaders. The gathering highlighted Jang’s extensive career, which spans his time in the Nigerian Air Force to his tenure as a two-term civilian governor and senator.

The autobiography was presented to the public and critiqued by media expert Seun Akinbiloye. During the review, Akinbiloye praised the book for its candid narrative, noting that it details the personal and political challenges Jang navigated throughout his years of service. The work provides an inside look at the historical events that shaped the nation and the leadership philosophy of a man frequently cited for his resilience in public life.
