The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) confirmed on Friday that Emerse Fae is no longer the head coach of the Ivory Coast national team. His contract concluded on July 31, 2026, and the federation opted against a renewal.
Fae rose to prominence two years ago during the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Ivory Coast. Initially appointed as an interim replacement after the dismissal of Jean-Louis Gasset during the group stages, Fae successfully steered the team to victory, securing a 2-1 win against Nigeria in the final to claim the nation’s third continental title. Following this success, he was formally appointed to the head coaching position.
Under his leadership, the Elephants qualified for the 2026 World Cup and advanced to the knockout stages, marking a historic achievement for the team before their eventual defeat by Norway in the round of 32. The federation acknowledged Fae’s efforts, noting that his tenure represents a significant chapter in the country’s football history. The FIF stated that a new manager will be named at a future time.
