The Niger State Police Command has taken a 42-year-old man into custody for managing a criminal enterprise that manufactured forged National Identity Number (NIN) documents and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Mohammed Aliyu Buba, a resident of the Angwan Sarki area in Munya Local Government Area, reportedly earned more than N3 million through this illegal scheme.
Police Commissioner Adamu Abdullahi Elleman announced the arrest while detailing the force’s accomplishments during July. Acting on intelligence gathered on July 28, officers from the Tactical Support Team raided the suspect’s home, where they seized 105 counterfeit NIN slips and 189 fraudulent voter cards.
Under questioning, Buba admitted to creating documents for over 1,000 clients, charging N2,000 for a fake NIN and N1,000 for a forged voter card. The suspect is currently held by the police and faces impending court charges. Commissioner Elleman emphasized that purchasing fake government documents is a serious crime and urged the public to avoid such services while reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.
