Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has commanded the destruction of an unauthorized community located near Karmajiji in the Kukwaba District. He identified the site as a potential base for criminal activity.
This order followed an inspection conducted by the minister alongside security personnel after an FCT Security Committee meeting. Wike explained that the move is necessary to bolster safety, noting that intelligence suggests perpetrators frequently retreat to this location after committing offenses elsewhere in the city.
During the site visit, Wike voiced his concern regarding the lack of accountability among residents, labeling the settlement a dangerous threat that the administration would no longer tolerate. He explicitly stated that Abuja will not be a haven for illicit operations.
The minister instructed Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi to coordinate with the Department of Development Control to execute the removal. He issued a stern warning that participants in illegal activities will encounter legal consequences. This action aligns with the broader FCT strategy to enhance public protection and uphold the security of all residents.
