Anambra State Authorities Seize and Destroy N50 Million in Illegal Narcotics

Anambra State’s anti-touting squad raided locations in Awka, destroying N50 million worth of illegal drugs and handing suspects over to the NDLEA.

The Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad recently conducted a series of raids throughout Awka, successfully destroying illicit substances valued at N50 million. The operation targeted various hubs within the capital city.

Monday Nwokoye, who heads the anti-touting unit, confirmed that the operation was prompted by reliable intelligence reports. During the exercise on Saturday, several suspects were apprehended and subsequently transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and legal processing.

Nwokoye emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s firm commitment to eradicating drug distribution and curbing criminal behavior across the region. He issued a clear warning to anyone involved in the trafficking or usage of illegal substances, stating that they will face severe legal repercussions if they continue their activities. The mission remains focused on creating a safer environment by eliminating touting and the presence of dangerous narcotics throughout the state.
