Following a series of missile attacks on American troops attributed to Tehran’s Operation Nasr 2, the United States military conducted a significant series of retaliatory strikes. Wednesday evening, U.S. Central Command confirmed that its forces targeted numerous sites linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The operation focused on dismantling Iranian capabilities, including drone and missile production facilities, command hubs, coastal defense systems, and maritime assets. While Iranian state media indicated three fatalities on Qeshm Island and damage in southern and western regions, CENTCOM stated the mission was intended to weaken threats to U.S. personnel, commercial shipping, and regional partners.
This escalation follows Tuesday’s ballistic missile barrage by the IRGC, which targeted American positions such as the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Jordanian officials reported successfully intercepting the incoming projectiles with no casualties on their soil.
Amid these developments, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman met with Vice President JD Vance in Washington to discuss the resurgence of regional instability. These discussions occurred shortly after U.S. and allied forces targeted Iranian-backed logistical sites in Iraq, marking an end to a temporary diplomatic cooling period.
