The Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has taken custody of 10 rescued victims of human trafficking.

The victims were handed over to the agency on December 12, 2024, by the Kano State Police Command.

According to NAPTIP’s Zonal Commander, Abdullahi Babale, the victims, comprising six females and four males aged between 22 and 42, were rescued on December 7 from a house in Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano. The operation was conducted by a police team led by CSP Bala Shuaibu.

Babale revealed that the victims were en route to Libya for labor exploitation. They hailed from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states.

Commending the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo-Garba, for his cooperation in rescuing the victims, Babale emphasized that they would undergo counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.

He also urged parents to safeguard their children from exploitation under the guise of seeking greener pastures and called on the public to report any suspicious cases of human trafficking in their communities.
