A disagreement between commercial tricycle drivers in Angwan Kassa, Jalingo, resulted in the death of 29-year-old Jessy Markus on Wednesday. Markus was in charge of distributing daily permits for the local tricycle union.
Witnesses stated the conflict began when Markus prevented a driver from working because he lacked the required permit. The driver left the area but returned shortly after with his brother and other individuals, some carrying knives. A confrontation ensued, and Markus was stabbed in the neck. He was transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo, where he was confirmed dead.
The violence caused residents and workers in Angwan Kassa to flee the scene. Security forces arrived quickly to restore order. Two suspects, the tricycle driver and his brother, have been detained by police. While investigations proceed, armed security patrols have been stationed in the neighborhood to ensure safety. The Taraba State Police Command has yet to release a formal report regarding the incident.
