Police Unable to Present PFIPC Leader to House Investigative Panel

The Nigeria Police Force stated that they cannot release PFIPC chief Adeyemi Adeniyi to the House of Representatives without a specific court order.

On Wednesday, the Nigeria Police Force did not present Adeyemi Adeniyi, who claims to lead the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), to the House of Representatives investigative committee. The legislative body had previously commanded Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to deliver Adeniyi for questioning by noon.

During the session, police representatives stated they could not comply because Adeniyi is currently detained under a lawful court mandate. They clarified that a formal judicial order or written authorization is necessary to move him from custody for the hearing.

While the police expressed a willingness to assist with the inquiry, they emphasized that they must prioritize existing court mandates. They advised the committee to secure the required legal clearance to ensure that bringing the suspect before lawmakers would not violate current judicial restrictions.
