Anthony Smith, a 38-year-old former UFC light-heavyweight title contender, has been taken into custody in Nebraska. He is currently being held at the Sarpy County Jail facing three felony counts: first-degree domestic violence assault, false imprisonment, and making terroristic threats. Authorities confirmed he is expected to appear before a judge by Friday.

Smith concluded his 24-fight tenure with the UFC earlier this year, ending his career with the organization following a loss to Zhang Mingyang in April. Throughout his professional MMA career, which began with his UFC debut in 2016, he compiled 39 victories and 22 losses, including a high-profile title match against Jon Jones in 2019. Beyond his active fighting career, which included a stint in Gamebred Bareknuckle, Smith has served as an analyst for UFC broadcasts.
