President Tinubu Targets 2027 Election Victory Against Rivals

President Bola Tinubu has declared his readiness to compete aggressively in the 2027 presidential race, while defending the neutrality of the electoral commission.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 presidential election cycle, President Bola Tinubu has expressed his firm intent to compete intensely against his political adversaries. During a session at the State House on Tuesday, the President met with representatives from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, headed by Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso.

Addressing concerns regarding electoral integrity, Tinubu maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission remains an impartial body. He rejected claims of intimidation, suggesting that critics may be projecting their own insecurities. The President emphasized that he seeks a competitive race and will not make the path to victory easy for his challengers, stating he is prepared to wrestle to the final outcome.

The electoral calendar begins on January 16, 2027, with the presidential vote alongside senatorial and legislative contests. State-level elections for governors and assembly members are slated for February 6, 2027. President Tinubu, representing the All Progressives Congress, is expected to face high-profile contenders including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
