The All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that the Accord Party will be unable to challenge its dominance in the upcoming August 15, 2026, gubernatorial election in Osun State. Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s National Chairman, made this statement on Tuesday during the launch of the Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council held in Abuja.
Yilwatda compared the APC’s political might to a heavy-duty truck confronting a tricycle, or Keke Napep. He asserted that no group, including Governor Ademola Adeleke’s platform, could endure the force of the APC’s campaign machine, which includes governors, National Assembly representatives, and various local government leaders. The campaign council features a diverse group of members ranging from federal executives and state governors to former and current legislators and members of the private sector.
The chairman explained that the APC plans to deploy extensive resources across the state. Governors from the South-West, South-South, and South-East will oversee specific senatorial districts alongside lawmakers and local chairmen, while northern governors will send their own local government officials and councillors to boost grassroots outreach. Yilwatda framed the Osun contest as a vital precursor to the 2027 general elections, serving as a practical training exercise for the party’s broader political strategy.
