The Edo State branch of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported a successful operation on Tuesday. Working alongside the Nigerian Army, agents raided a four-bedroom residential bungalow in the Illushi community of Esan South East Local Government Area that was functioning as a storage site for illegal drugs.
State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju stated that authorities confiscated 1,273kg of cannabis and 86kg of seeds, amounting to a total of 1,359kg. During the raid, officers apprehended two individuals: 45-year-old Ojore Onweze and 30-year-old George Agwumede.
Ofoyeju condemned the practice of using family homes to store narcotics, calling it a serious threat to public safety. He praised the collaboration between the NDLEA and the Nigerian Army, emphasizing that the agency remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks. He also encouraged the public to assist in the fight against drug abuse to help secure a safer future for the state.
